- The Domaine d’Eugénie estate was born in Summer 2006 following the acquisition of René Engel estate. The estate is situated in Vosne-Romanée where is considered as the treasure of big wines of Burgundy. The vineyard is about 6.51 hectares and extends onto the communes of Vosne-Romanée ( just next to the "Domaine Romanee-Conti"), Vougeot and Flagey-Echezeaux.
- The Estate is managed by Frédéric Engerer, also President of Château Latour, and by Michel Mallard, oenologist , who is helped by Pénélope Godefroy, Quality Control and Vine Research Manager, and a team of two multi-task wine-growers.
- The estate produces 5 appellations including Clos-Vougeot, Grands-Echezeaux, Echezeaux, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru «Aux Brulees» and Vosne Romanée village, which are being recognized as top-quality appellations by wine enthusiasts from all over the world.
- Prices of wines under Domaine d’Eugénie range from approximately RMB1,500 to RMB 4,500.
The vintage 2008 at Domaine d’Eugénie:
- Vosne-Romanée Villag
This wine is very well balanced with supple and fruity structure.
- Vosne-Romanée 1er cru «Aux Brûlées»
This wine is more fleshy and finer than the Villages bringing a complex aromatic palette which is characterized by the sunny terroir. It is a racy wine with long length in the mouth.
- Echezeaux
More masculine than les Grands-Echezeaux, the Echezeaux appears to be more strict. The wines have an aromatic palette with dark fruits and lovely tannins. The balance shows on troughout the length of the wine.
- Grands-Echezeaux
The Grands-Echezeaux symbolizes feminity and elegance, showing lovely strength. They are very expressive today, with also a racy structure and a soft, creamy texture.
- Clos-Vougeot
The Clos Vougeot surprised us with its straightforward elegance. More discreet than the other Grands Crus, Clos-Vougeot keeps a homogenous and solid structure. More powerful, an exceptional combination of the structure of the Echezeaux and finesse of the Grands-Echezeaux.
